Taos was originally pulled from a municipal shelter as a very sick, deeply skittish young cat. For a long time, Taos lived strictly by a "look, but don't touch" mantra. He loved taking in the sanctuary surroundings from a safe distance, but touching was strictly off-limits while he learned to feel safe in the world.

At Big Sky Ranch, we never rush a cat's timeline. After 10 years of patient care, safety, and unconditional love, Taos has finally let his guard down!

Lately, Taos has begun opening up to new people and routinely allows gentle pets—a massive milestone that shows just how comfortable and secure he feels in his ranch home. Because this incredible progress came from years of feeling completely safe in his routine, Taos gets to spend the rest of his life right here at the sanctuary, where he can be his true self on his own terms.
