Meet Shadow: The Resident Bird Watcher

Personality: Independent, skittish, and quietly observant

Meet Shadow, a unique senior kitty who has found her perfect middle ground at Big Sky Ranch. Originally adopted from us as a skittish kitten about 10 years ago, Shadow’s initial adopter appreciated her antisocial nature and chose not to socialize her. Fast forward a decade, and when her owner needed to move out of the country, Shadow’s fear of people made the international transport process impossible - bringing her back to Big Sky Cares and then home to the ranch sanctuary.

Shadow is what we lovingly call an "indoor feral" - she isn’t suited for life as a barn cat, but she also isn't comfortable in a traditional home environment. Fortunately, she found her ideal setup in our enclosed Kitty Park, where she shares a cozy cottage with a few close feline friends.

Her absolute favorite hobby? Birdwatching! Shadow spends her days "studying" the Sibley Guide to Birds and keeping a close eye on all the native species that live at or visit Big Sky Ranch. In the Kitty Park, Shadow enjoys the ultimate freedom: she can be as social as she wants, whenever she wants, entirely on her own terms.
