Darrin’s journey to Big Sky Ranch is a story of incredible transformation. He was pulled from a municipal shelter’s euthanasia list after arriving with severe ulcers on both eyes, causing his eyelids to seal shut and leaving him unable to see. Overwhelmed, terrified by the scents of a high-stress shelter, and in constant pain, Darrin naturally became defensive. Sadly, shelter staff responded by poking sticks into his kennel to push food toward him, which only frightened him more.

The moment Darrin arrived at Big Sky Ranch, our priority was eliminating his pain and surrounding him with gentleness. He underwent entropion surgery to repair his eyelids and save what eyesight remained. While one eye couldn't be saved, our team successfully salvaged minimal vision in the other!

Once he was out of pain and knew he was safe, Darrin’s true colors instantly shone through. Far from defensive, Darrin is a total lovebug who craves human attention! He adores getting petted and will happily flop down right beside you to roll around in the lush green grass.

Because he thrives on fresh air and sunshine, Darrin wouldn't be happy stuck indoors full-time. However, due to his limited vision, he can't live as an unsupervised barn cat either. Big Sky Ranch created the perfect routine for him: a secure catio to sleep in at night, and plenty of safe, supervised outdoor roaming time during the day!
