CATNIP Foundation is a program of Big Sky Ranch devoted to animal welfare in St. Tammany Parish and south Louisiana through programs that reduce the unnecessary killing of animals in shelters and improve quality of life for animals and their people, indoors and out, CATNIP Foundation works with the public, partner organizations, and municipal agencies to innovate, support, and model efforts to create no-kill communities and remove the need for shelters and sanctuaries.

CATNIP's Adoption / Sponsor Program helps homeless pets find loving families, and loving families find their new best friends. A wide range of cats and dogs are available for adoption/sponsorship at CATNIP Foundation, and all them are ready for a new home. Each pet has been spayed/neutered and received vaccinations and medical care appropriate to their age.

SENIORS FOR SENIORS
CATNIP's Seniors for Seniors Program pairs senior pets (7 years and older) with senior people (65 years and older) for a match that's good for everyone! Adoption fees for seniors are waived, and CATNIP will cover routine veterinary care for the first 30 days. the cat is in your home If circumstances change at any time we're happy to take the cat back at Big Sky Ranch.
TRAP/NEUTER/RETURN is the means by which outdoor cat populations are kept safe, healthy, and managed. Outdoor cats are trapped, spayed/neutered, provided with necessary medical care, and released where they were caught. CATNIP Foundation own local TNR efforts - and support of other local TNR groups - improves quality of life for outdoor cats..
BARN CAT PROGRAM
Some of the cats we rescue at CATNIP are a little wary of humans, but can still be a productive member of a family, however, by taking on the job of "Barn Cat." This program pairs suitable cats with families or farms that need a superstar mouser to live outdoors on their property. Barn Cats are adopted in groups of two or three to aid acclimation.

CATNIP Foundation is a leader in disaster response for pets and owners in the southeast US. We respond with experienced volunteers, transport, shelter, and supplies to save the lives of pets displaced by natural disasters. In the last 10 years CATNIP Foundation has rescued thousands of pets from flood, fire, and storms that have decimated communities, providing care and housing, and reuniting pets with owners.
CATNIP partners with animal control services in their parish, individual rescuers and caretakers, and regional nonprofit rescue organizations to reduce shelter intake and support programs that provide quality of life while controlling populations of outdoor cats. CATNIP provides shelter, food, and supplies through these and other partnerships in support of its mission to change the way we live with and care for animals.
